Last stop in Rotterdam. Wi Masanga, a meeting centre for Afro- Surinam people, founded in the 70’s. 90 pct male black population. “We Surinam people always scream loud”, my contact person said in her introduction,” let’s see if a European has a loud enough voice to do this.” A lot of tumult, going in and out, talking, drinking, playing, not easy to grab attention. But silence in the end. And a big guy coming to congratulate Sarah: ” You have courage, as a white woman here. I never manage to get them silent.” Intense experiences in Rotterdam.
From tomorrow on: Leuven.

Unique Interim, one of the many existing employment agencies. Their meetings take place on a noisy work-floor where phone-calls ring through and clients just pop in and ask for immediate attention. Flexibility is the message. Half of the staff was suddenly too busy to join the meeting, so it got very intimate.

The Pauluskerk is famous for Rotterdam, it’s a diaconal missionary center working with volunteers who help vulnerable people in different ways. At this meeting, a small group of people was discussing recent events in their personal lives, mostly in relation to Bible stories. Extremely open and responsive audience, ready to shout “we are before” along.

This morning the secretary of the notary office thought the project was called “Lecture For Business”. Special atmosphere in this place that deals with death, living, capital in the most formal way. Generally it feels stranger to bring the lecture in Holland than in Finland or Belgium. Is this maybe linked to the words the new king used in his speech on “Prinsjesdag” last Tuesday? Figuring out.

The Rotterdam Running Ambassadors:
“a group of running entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial runners”. Right after their weekly training, LFEO in the dressing rooms.

The “concerndirectie” – executive board of the Rotterdam city council was appointed in 2011 in order for the city institutions to operate more efficient, flexible and cheaper. Reorganization is an often used term there. The word “power” seemed like the proverbial needle that fell in the silent room this morning.

Right before lunch break today, we went to Hogeschool InHolland, at a meeting of the board of examiners of the media&entertainment management. The lecture was introduced as “a form of “media-training…”
Question: “Do you think you know more or less than I do?” Answer: “More, of course, we are teachers, we always know more.”
