The European Parliament. We have an interesting, open talk with the spokesman of one of the politicians a.o. about the difficulty of proposing an alternative to the system while being part of it, and about the lack of what is political in the essential sense of the word (going back to the polis) in a lot of our democratic political institutions. Then we enter one of the many big conference spaces. Time matters, 15 minutes is a lot. So much going on: people going in and out, different kinds of information traffic, changing faces. Then, a moment. Silence. The words are alien in this context, there’s resistance. The 23 translators behind glass look flabbergasted. They never had to translate words like “love” before.

The last LFEO in Brussels: Volvo Trucks. A lecture for the annual meeting of the entire company. Board and staff. A manager does a short talk about the company’s new work culture: “I-Pads, coffee corners, special desks… we have them, now use them.” Then Lecture For Every One. We are before…

LFEO for a small group of the communication and sponsoring department of Total, “one of the world leaders in petrol and natural gas industry”. A huge videoprojection in the hall shows Totals production process all over the world. Again we get visitor-badges before entering the building… we are getting used to this procedure. Yet not too used… this was Mylène’s last LFEO in Brussels.

Yesterday evening, 7.30pm: LFEO to the monthly public city council of Molenbeek. More than 160 topics to be discussed – or rather voted. A combination of mayor, council members, opposition, a stirred up action committee, groups of citizens, kept at a distance from the political forum… . A place that is officially for every one, where decisions about the daily life of everyone are being made. We never encountered such hostility, from every one. Wrong place, wrong timing, wrong people. Wrong choice to be there? LFEO stays an intruder.

The Dominican is a 4 star luxury hotel in the heart of Brussels. Usually the clients are at the centre of attention – business and/or escapism – but not this time: LFEO went to the sales team of the hotel.
